I can provide whatever level of editing work you need. I offer critiques, copyedits, substantive edits, and ghostwriting.

Critique

In a critique, I read over your manuscript and outline its strengths and weaknesses. From there, you will know if your work is ready for editing or if you need to work on it further.

Copy Edit

In a copyedit, I correct spelling, punctuation, basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, dangling modifiers, capitalization, and paragraph breaks. I do not substantially rewrite or reorganize. The involvement with the book deals mostly with the mechanics and rules of the English language. All authors need a copyedit before having a book published.

Substantive Edit

A substantive edit includes all of the above but with additional emphasis on clarity, organization, and flow. It includes more hands-on work with your manuscript to present a more polished, professional tone. It will reflect more changes to your work and should be chosen if you feel that your manuscript needs work beyond the basic copyedit.

Ghostwrite

I can ghostwrite books for busy pastors who want to turn their sermon series into books. It includes working from transcriptions that you provide and produces a book in your voice and style to get out your message.

How it Works

Initial Contact

Contact me, describing your work and the type of service you desire. Since cost is generally based upon word count, you should include the total number of words in your manuscript.

Estimate and Completion

I respond with a projected deadline and turnaround time as well as the fee to be charged. I also provide you with a detailed list of author/editor responsibilities in the editing process.

Contract and Completion

If you wish to proceed, you send me your manuscript as a Word document. I will return it to you within the prescribed time and in accordance with all agreed upon details.

Payment

You may make payment anytime during the editing process, but no later than the manuscript due date. You have the option of paying by credit or debit card through PayPal or by writing a check.
